10/9/97 - Brunching with a Squid. Strict beef/pork/poultry man meets real-life squid? In a restaurant? Hark, can this be the end of our sullen adventurer, Victor Turner? Hardly. Bill Osborg of wosb.org was in town in the middle of his Osborg Country Tour '97 gig to meet as many fellow web designers as possible. He's one of them military boys so he gets to play with multi-million dollar toys like aircraft carriers. (I think the most expensive toy I've found yet is Anna...but that's a private matter, eh sweetheart? ;) ) As is my brunch today with Bill. I tend not to drag other people down into the depths of obscurity with me, so I don't talk about them much. ;) Partly for their comfort, as well. But it was great meeting Bill. He has a profoundly different personality than me, but at our cores, we get along well. I just felt out of place a bit -- I mean, aren't web designers supposed to talk snobbishly about how bad other sites are while downing a latte? Heh, I'll save that for San Francisco or something. DHTML is cool. Been experimenting a bit with it on my first few opening pages. Allows you to do things like make text scroll out from under a header and change text color by clicking on it. Combination of Javascript and stylesheets. You know, Javascript is a breeze...I have only a beginner's knowledge of programming and Java and I was coding my own functions and all...fun stuff. Looking forward to talking to you tomorrow, my dear Anna. But I guess you will have already heard that not long before reading this... :) "There is nothing new except what is forgotten." -attributed to Mademoiselle Bertin . . . c o m |-. ,-. ,-. |- . . ,-. ,-. ,-. ,-. | | |-' | | | | | | | | |-' | `-' `-' ' ' `' `-' ' ' ' `-' '
